Will plays Turkish Ud made by Manolis
Turkish Ud Bowl: Caucasian Walnut & African Padauk Soundboard: Engelmann spruce (North America) with new bracing system. Neck: Okume, dressed with bowl’s woods and carbon fiber reinforcements. Pegs: Wittner fine tune Fingerboard : Ebony Rossetes : Natural Horn Scale: 58.5 cm I had the pleasure of building this Oud for Will, a wonderful musician and composer from Chicago. We met two years ago, and since then we’ve been studying together over Skype. He eventually came all the way to Greece to receive his instrument in person. In this video Will is playing his Oud for the very first time, exploring its sustain, its lingering echoes, and the world of overtones it unveils. Recorded with an iPhone, no further sound processing has taken place.

Zenne Ud - Made and played by Manolis - Uzun İnce Bir Yoldayım
This is my latest oud – a zenne model – small in size, yet carrying the same spirit. Often chosen by women, players with a shorter torso, or those seeking extra comfort. A folk souled oud with a gipsy travelled feeling ready to take you from aşiks’ music cafes to heartbroken rembetiko and every world’s corners of music under the strict rules of free music without aesthetic boundaries ! When its folk soul fades, so does a part of its story. This instrument is also the last of the Padauk–Walnut series. The next ones are on their way – with new materials, fresh decoration patterns, and new stories waiting to be told. Bowl: Caucasian Walnut & African Padauk Soundboard: Canadian cedar with new bracing system. Neck: Okume, dressed with bowl’s woods and carbon fiber reinforcments. Pegs: Ebony Fingerboard : Ebony Rossetes : Natural Horn Scale: 57 cm Song by Âşık Veysel : Uzun İnce Bir Yoldayım Uzun, ince bir yoldayım Gediyorum gündüz gece Bilmiyorum ne hâldeyim Gediyorum gündüz gece
